Andrea Beyer
MusAid, New World Symphony

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Andrea began playing bass at age 10 and grew up studying with Colin O’Bryan. Andrea holds a Bachelors Degree from Oberlin Conservatory where she studied with Thomas Sperl and a Masters Degree from Yale University where she studied with Don Palma.
A member of the New World Symphony from 2017-2020, Andrea’s primary focus as a performer is in orchestral music, and she has played in concerts at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center and has performed with artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, John Adams, and Daxun Zhang. Also an avid traveler, Andrea has performed recitals and taught masterclasses in Mexico, Uruguay, and Bolivia and, as a member of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas, toured in Central and South America.
In addition to performing, Andrea enjoys teaching and advocating for music as a source of social change. She has taught students ranging from eight-years-old to undergraduate level in New Haven public schools and at Yale, as well as in Montevideo, Uruguay at the Orquesta Juvenil del SODRE and in Palestine at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music. Andrea is also the Public Relations Director for the MusAid Organization, which supports music institutions in countries experiencing a lack of access to music education resources with volunteer music teachers and donated instruments and materials.
